Triangle Hunter

Reads the arms-in/arm-out geometry and closes the legs into a strangle.

The triangle hunter turns your own arm into the weapon that strangles you. The whole game is geometry: one arm in, one arm out, and legs that close the gap into a blood choke. From guard you invite the wrong grip, trap it, and shoot the legs into position; from there you have the arm-triangle, the omoplata, and the back as follow-ups when the strangle stalls. Rolling against this player, you feel your posture constantly under attack. The moment you reach, an ankle appears over your shoulder. You learn to keep both hands in or both hands out, and you still get caught, because the entries come inverted, rolling, and off failed passes. Even when you stack and stand, the legs reload rather than release. It suits longer legs and flexible hips, but more than that it suits a patient, spatial thinker who enjoys reading angles and setting traps two moves ahead rather than muscling positions. Calm under scrambles is a bigger asset than raw speed. Begin with the basic closed triangle from guard: drill controlling one wrist, pinning the far arm across, and cutting the angle before locking the legs, because angle is what finishes triangles, not squeezing. Add the arm-triangle from top so you have the same strangle available when you pass. Respect the weakness directly: strong posture and a committed stack will stall you, so train the answers. Hip out to reangle, switch to the omoplata, or climb to the back rather than grinding a dead triangle.

Key weapons

Where it breaks

The triangle needs a sharp angle and a controlled head, so a strong posture-and-stack game is the direct answer. If they stand tall, drive their weight into your hips, and refuse to be pulled down, the legs never lock at the right angle and the finish stalls out. From there they can walk the trapped arm free or pass toward your locked knee, turning your own attack into their pass.
