Pressure / Smash Passer

Pressure Guard Passing

Makes you carry their weight until the guard caves. Slow, heavy, inevitable.

The pressure passer wins by making the guard exhausting to keep. Instead of dancing around your legs, they climb into you, flatten chest to chest, and let gravity do the work until the frames you built collapse under their weight. It is a game of accumulation, not surprise. A match against a good pressure passer feels slow and airless. You get one leg free and they smother it before you can reload; every time you create space they close it and add another point of contact, a cross-face here, an underhook there, so escaping costs more energy than they spend holding you. By the third minute you are carrying someone who feels twice their size, and the guard caves not to one clean pass but to fatigue. This style suits larger, stronger, patient grapplers who stay calm without constant action. If you prefer a slow arm-wrestle to a track meet, it fits. Length and heavy hips help; explosive athleticism is optional. Its blind spots are speed, distance, and long active legs that keep you off the hips and re-guard before the smash sets, so the fix for facing it is to never let the weight settle. Start with the knee-cut: pin the far hip, kill the cross-collar or underhook frame, and slice the knee through with your head heavy. Then drill the over-under pass, stapling one leg, wrapping the other, and walking your chest across. Those two, one slicing and one stapling, are the spine of every smash game. Bernardo Faria and Rodolfo Vieira are known for this style.

Key weapons

Where it breaks

A pressure passer needs to make contact and stay heavy, so an opponent who keeps distance and moves faster than the smash never lets the weight settle. Long, active legs create frames and lever the passer away before the chest connects, and every stall lets the guard reset. Against constant movement the passer spends more energy chasing than pinning.
